“LUKE” by Roy E. Burgess

Luke Cordell, a Dakotah Indian, is getting his first taste of tobacco from his grandfather chew can.  He did not like it.  Native American people as well as most Earth based cultures believe smoking Native tobacco to be part sacrament and part pleasure.  When you consult with a medicine man for doctoring or teaching, it is customary to give a pouch of loose tobacco to a shaman.  It's an integral part of the ceremony.
